Unique wedding gift idea – The Wandering Minstrel

Wandering MinstrelsHere is something brand new and different for anyone who would like to buy something a bit different for the bride and groom.

The Wandering Minstrel will surprise the couple, in full medieval minstrel outfit and sing a special song all about them from the information that you give him. You can include their name, the occasion and the names of who the greeting is from. You can tell the story of how the couple met and fell in love, or why not tell the minstrel about their work, their achievements, their interests, and the celebrities that they adore. It’s best though when you tell them all the funny things that they say and do, and all of the funny things that have happened to them. You know all the private jokes that will make them laugh out loud, and all these details can all go into the song.

If that was all that happened it would still be amazing, but that is not all:

They will create a full band production audio CD of the special song, and print any photo that you supply onto the body of the CD too.

If that was all that happened it would still be amazing, but that is not all:

They will also create a stunning animated video featuring the song and all of the photos and videos that you supply. This is like the bride and groom starring in their own music video all about them.
If your reception venue is set up for this you can even show this video at the reception too.
The Wandering Minstrel will also produce a special DVD of the finished video, with a photo printed onto the body of the DVD.

As part of the surprise, The Wandering Minstrel will present the audio CD and the DVD video, plus a certificate style lyric sheet.

We believe that it is the best way there is to show someone that you love them. Currently available in London, Manchester and Yorkshire, and on DVD only worldwide.

Visit their website to see more video samples and read the testimonials from their very happy customers.

Royal Wedding Disney Similarities

Every girl plans their fairytale wedding, none less then Katherine Middleton, but these images prove she may of been planning it all from childhood….. we’re just not too sure why William’s cousins decided to join in with the whole Disney character thing when they chose their outfits for the wedding !

This image brightened up my day !

And is if this cartoon banter wasn’t enough, South Park have gone and made their Royal wedding spoof, brilliantly titled Royal Pudding. I wonder how long it will be before Pippa Middleton makes a guest appearance in the Simpsons….?

Royal Wedding Dance Entrance Revealed

Those clever people at T-mobile have made yet another advert for their “life’s for sharing” theme, and mocked a brilliant Royal Wedding dance entrance into the church for William and Kate’s wedding.
If you’ve not seen the video yet, and over 5 million people have already seen it, then it’s well worth five minutes of your life, especially the entrance of Prince Harry.

We can only hope that the real thing at Westminster Abbey next week will be as fun to watch, with Louie Spence providing the dance moves.

My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding

My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding

The title alone was enough to reel me in, and so I sat down at 9pm last night tuned into C4HD and sat there with my jaw dropped around my chest area somewhere for a full hour.

My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding was not only shocking and thought provoking, but also cracking TV entertainment.
For those that didn’t witness the TV Wedding of the year so far, I will attempt to shed some light on the courtship rituals of the travelling community in England for you here.

According to the documentary narrator, Gypsies (or travelling communities, not sure which is the PC name we should be adopting) have been around for 500 years in the UK, and something that appears not to of changed very much during this time is the way that family life operates when it comes to relationships.
Firstly, they rarely mix with people outside of their own community, perhaps this is why their lives are so different from mainstream UK residents, they simply think their lifestyle is perfect and will not change it for all the china nick-nacks in er… China.

Last night’s episode followed 2 individual families, one of which was focused on a 17 year old girl planning her wedding day, the other on a 7 year old girl and her brother planning for their first communion.
Both stories started at the dress makers, where perhaps the only explanation about the dresses I can offer for those who didn’t see the episode is… think Jordan on drugs.
Two of the ugliest dresses ever seen on TV, were talked about by their new owners as if they were more beautiful then a sunny day at Southend.

The little girls dress was bright pink, weighed double her body weight, and made her look like a strawberry meringue with a tiara, and a couple of eyeballs poking through the 4,000 miles (or close) of pink netting. It was apparently based on the princess from “Coming to America” movie.
My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding
To stand beside her, her gypsy brother John-Boy (named presumably by the kennel club) wore a white suit, also selected to look like the Prince from the same 80′s movie.
To make matters even more amusing (for the viewers) they arrived at the church, hanging out of the window of their stretched Hummer limo, and were joined by children from their school, who just stood there in a state of giggling shock at their school chums dress sense.

Gypsy Wedding Dress

Then we had our 17 year old, marrying the man of her dreams, who recently bought their 1st marital home from the Caravan Club and who “worked with horses” – presumably trying to learn from them.
It has to be said, the bloke had some taste, because this young bride of his was stunning, sadly, unlike her chosen wedding dress.
Having left school at 11 years old to help her mother bring up her gang of children, and clean the home, she had opted for a white virginal wedding dress. She described it as having a split up the front. That’s like calling the Grand Canyon a pothole.
The “split” was a 2 foot gap in the middle of her wedding dress, which looked like something straight from a porn movie.
But it didn’t matter to her, the dress was so tight that she hoped it scarred her, something that gypsy’s apparently gauge the brilliance of her wedding dress by.

But My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding wasn’t just about cheap laughs at bridal wear of the travellers, the show also looked at how courtship started amongst the girls and boys of the community.
The girls, standing around a car park still dressed in their favourite movie attire (think, the early scenes of Pretty Woman) are basically hanging around trying to catch the attention of a gypsy boy, they are not permitted to approach a boy though.
Should a boy decide that he’s potentially spotted the girl of his dreams, he will decide to “grab” them. The term “grab” is used quite literally too, in one scene where a teenage girl had been grabbed, she was pushed up against a wooden fence being held by the boy who constantly requested a kiss before he let her go, it was one of the more disturbing scenes of last night’s episode.
The gypsy girls culture states that they must remain virgins until they are married, and they all are looking for men who will go to work whilst they look after the marital trailer.
These two traits, coupled with the true community spirit amongst the families are probably why their lifestyle remains so steadfast.

Whether you found the Big Fat Gypsy Wedding funny, sad, disturbing or otherwise, you can guarantee I’ll be watching again next week.

Unique Wedding Rings

Unique Wedding Rings

Several times in our blog we’ve spoken about unique or quirky wedding ideas, we’ve also written about Unusual and Unique Wedding Rings – but today we found something even more “unique”.

Kiley Granberg describes herself as an Art Jeweller and Fine Artist. She lives in Alberta, Canada and today we stumbled across a rather unique style in one of her jewellery items, these gold plated wedding rings pictured below.

Unique Wedding Rings

Described by Kiley :

Wedding Bands are about commitment. The inherent connotations are a huge part of the piece and, quite often, reveal themselves as a social or sexual comment.

The rings are constructed out of brass then plated in 24k gold. And although the stone is set into the men’s ring, when screwed together, the stone actually sits against the woman’s finger.

They are certainly very different, so if you’re looking for something a little quirky for your wedding rings, then you may wish to speak to Kiley.

Japanese Robot Wedding

Wedding news from Tokyo now, and an interesting development in the way marriage vows have been exchanged.
In our digital age, the first wedding ceremony officiated by a ROBOT has taken place.

Japanese Robot Wedding

In a rather peculiar design, the 4-foot “I-Fairy” robot, conducted the ceremony complete with flashing eyes and plastic pigtails.
unsurprisingly perhaps, the manufacturer Kokoro Co, claimed it to be the first time a marriage had been led by a robot.

The wedding took place in Hibiya Park, in Central Toyko, with the I-Fairy wearing a floral wreath – conducting the wedding on a rooftop of a restaurant.
The robot was apparently controlled by a man behind a curtain just a few feet away.

Blushing Bride Satoko Inoue, 36, who works at manufacturer Kokoro said “This was a lot of fun. I think that Japanese have a strong sense that robots are our friends. Those in the robot industry mostly understand this, but people mainly want robots near them that serve some purpose,”

If you’re interested in copying the Japanese robot wedding, then an I-Fairy can be purchased for 6.3M Yen. (Apparently!)

Bride goes mad in wedding shop brawl

A classic example of “Bridezilla” is caught on CCTV cameras after a bride entered a wedding shop to purchase a dress.
The shocking video clip shows the angry bride-to-be trashing the store after a bust-up with the staff.

To see the CCTV footage in full -> Bride starts wedding shop brawl

Wedding Shop owner Hekmay Putruss asked the lady to leave the store, after some “bad-mouthing” the confrontation ended with an almighty brawl, all down to the fact a staff member refused to make alterations to the ladies’ wedding dress.

Mr Putruss said “She started threatening me, saying ‘you don’t know who I am, I’ll call my husband to kill you, to teach everyone here a lesson’.”

Shortly after, three men arrived at the wedding shop, whilst it was filled with customers, and shoved Mr Putruss into a display cabinet, then tackled him to the floor.

Bridal mannequins were used as weapons in the shop in Oakland County, Michigan, USA. When police arrived at the store, all three men were arrested and later charged with assault.

No matter how stressful your wedding planning is becoming, we’re sure they’d be no brides from Essex who would react in such a manner.

Wedding Cans – Recycle to pay for your wedding

This is our first post of 2010, and it’s been a crazy start to the year. After a fairly quiet December with not too much going on, 2010 has started with a huge bang, plenty of new businesses have already listed their services with us meaning we’re offering more and more options for the brides and grooms of Essex to plan their perfect wedding – and judging by our stats, there are an awful lot of people planning their weddings at the moment.

Perhaps there was a flurry of engagements in Essex over the Christmas period, if you got engaged then just complete the little form to join our mailing list so we can tell you about any special offers that our services have for 2010.

Wedding Cans save your moneyIf you’re planning your wedding, and are daunted by the thought of saving up for your wedding budget, then consider something similar to this crazy couple from the States. Pete and Andrea are on a mission, to save up for their wedding that they are planning for July this year, but they are doing it slightly differently by collecting aluminium cans to claim the recycling refund that their state offers for each can.

Andrea Parrish, 25, and Peter Geyer, 29, from Washington, have already collected more than 18,000 cans which are currently sitting in their living room. The couple said: “Saving the environment and throwing a killer party… what could be better?”
Their target is 400,000 cans, and have accepted cans as gifts from well wishers – if they reach their target they will have collected around 5 tonnes of aliminum sitting in their house, an expect to earn around $3800 (£2375) for their efforts.

The pair have even set up their own website to help advertise their mission, so if you’re feeling generous, or just want to have a nose at such a great story, their website is www.weddingcans.com

I’m sure there are plenty of weird and wacky ways to save some money for your wedding day, so if you think you’ve heard of a better one then complete the form below and let us know.

Facebook fancy dress wedding

Facebook fancy dress wedding

After reporting possibly the first facebook status update at the alter last week , we thought it only right to tell you about a Facebook group setup to decide whether a couple get married in fancy dress or not.

The group was set up by Bec Miller who states “100,000 people join and Bam and I will have a fancy-dress wedding,” The Facebook group has already attracted around 900 members – and with your help, you can “vote” for their special fancy dress wedding.

Join the Facebook group

MS Miller started the group as it was her childhood dream to wear fairy wings as she walked down the aisle. Her original plan was to achieve a mere 1,000 members to the group but her fiancée deemed this too easy, especially as their achieved 700 members in under two weeks.

The Facebook group has even found Bec a “sponsor” in the form of costume shop, Escapage, who have offered the couple full clothing for the couple and their child Vitani.

The wedding is set for 1st April, so Bec has only a short period to find the necessary 100,000 Facebook group members – although the rumour is that Bec and Bam (?) have verbally agreed that 10,000 members could be a comprise.

Ms Miller invited everyone to join the group to help her wedding campaign, stating “the more the merrier” – So get yourself along and join the Facebook group today, and ensure the poor groom gets his fancy dress costume for his wedding day ! You can find the group here – 100 000 people join and bam and i will have a fancy-dress wedding.
