The best wedding video we’ve seen

Being a wedding website we do find ourselves hunting around all corners of the internet for wedding related information that we can pass onto our visitors who are planning their wedding in Essex.
Well this morning we stumbled across this wedding video, and couldn’t wait to get it on our website to share with you all.

Making the decision to have a videographer film your wedding day is a personal choice, it’s quite popular and great fun to look back on the day, most brides and grooms can’t wait to see their wedding video as soon as they return from their honeymoon.

But for Brian & Eileen whose video is below, I bet they were really itching to get back from their honeymoon to see what their wedding video man had done with the effort they and their wedding guests had put into the making of this clip.

It looks like so much fun, and I bet the wedding guests were scrambling to play a part in the video, the end product is superb and we’d love to hear from anyone who knows the people who made the video as we rate it 10/10.

Anyway, if you’re looking for a wedding video that will bring you so much joy for many years to come, then why not consider finding a wedding videographer that can come up with something like this………..

EDIT – Having done a little more research into the talents behind the camera in this wedding video, it turns out that it’s been produced by two guys from London who amongst other projects make Wedding Music Videos.
Their company is called Lockdown, follow the link above to see other examples of their superb work and why not get in touch with them to discuss what they can do for your wedding day, we’re pretty sure they’ll travel to Essex from London !

Writing your own Wedding Vows

Writing your own wedding vows

If you’re planning a civil wedding in Essex, then you can also consider writing your own wedding vows for the ceremony.
Having the option to customise your own ceremony needn’t be a scary idea, and can be a lot of fun, and certainly a great deal more personal then the usual formal vows.

Your registrar will give you a few options of the standard wedding vows to choose from, but if you think you’d like to write your own, then that is perfectly acceptable too.
As with any formal ceremony, there are always one or two rules to abide by, but they aren’t really too hard to fit into your personalised wedding vows.
Legally a civil ceremony is not allowed to use certain wording that has any religious references, by this we mean words you may use everyday without even realising, such as Angel, Heaven etc. Should you want background music or ask a friend or relative to make a reading, these aren’t allowed any religious references either, for example Robbie Williams “Angels” would not be allowed.

The personal wedding vows also need to include statutory declarations :
“…Solemnly declare that I know not of any lawful impediment why I, (name), may not be joined in matrimony to (name)”
The other part of the ceremony that needs to remain intact is the usual calling upon those present to witness your vows, other then that the wording is yours to personalise as you want.
Things to look for ideas are poems, special quotes you may of made over the years together, or even famous wedding or marriage quotes made by celebrities.

Personalised Wedding Vows

Other ideas or things to consider when writing your own wedding vows :

  • How your life has changed since you met.
  • What qualities does your partner have that made you fall in love.
  • Talk about special moments since you met.
  • What happened the day of the proposal.
  • What are you looking forward to in married life.
  • What does your partner do to make you smile.
  • What dreams in life do you share.

Personalised wedding vows can be the most romantic thing you can ever share, and even if you’re a little nervous about writing the vows or reading them out in front of all your wedding guests, you’ll look back at that moment with very fond memories indeed.
Writing your own wedding vows helps create your own very personal wedding style, with a special touch.

Wedding Dresses Ignore the Crunch

With all the media continuously talking of the economic downturn, it’s a little surprising that a recent report shows that the British bridal wear business is seeing considerable growth – far greater then the general ladies wear.

During 2008 a remarkable £128m was spent on bridal wear, leaving grooms clothing in the shade on a “tiny” £38m – the report suggested that brides spend a lot more time planning their dream wedding in their heads, even before the engagement – meaning that the dream wedding dress had been purchased in the bride’s mind some time before the almighty credit crunch, and simply won’t compromise.

Top end retailers of bridal wear, where wedding dresses sell from around £2,000 to prices most people can’t imagine, say their businesses are growing year on year, and most brides to be are simply not very price conscious.

Another report by Bridal Buyer magazine, conducted further research from brides and found that ladies who were planning to reduce the overall cost of their wedding day, were making cut backs elsewhere. Rather then opting for a less expensive wedding dress, they were cutting back on the wedding guest count, or reducing the amount spent on smaller items such as wedding favours.

Other wedding trends are emerging from the study, such as the return of the ballroom style, multi layered, romantic wedding dress, with it’s fairytale wedding look.
And with the 2008 wedding dress market valued at £220m – 2009 looks likely to brush aside any concern for the recession and continue to produce delightful high quality wedding dresses for many brides again this year.

Choosing the perfect wedding date

Once you’ve told your nearest and dearest that you’ve got engaged the first question on everyone’s list is “When’s the wedding date?”

Of course, enjoy the moment of being the new “fiancee” – choosing the date of your wedding is one of the most important decisions you’re going to make in the long road of your wedding planning.
It doesn’t just involve you and your fiancee, if you want to involve all your family and friends then you’ll need to choose a wedding date carefully.

Depending on what you’d like from your dream wedding makes a big difference, if you’re considering hiring a wedding planner, then they’ll appreciate more time to get things fully organised and ensure they choose things that you’ll truly appreciate.
For a traditional style wedding with all your family and friends attending, realistically you’ll want to allow yourself around 12 months to get yourself organised with the minimal amount of fuss.

Choosing a perfect wedding date

When sitting down to discuss a wedding date, ensure that there are no conflicts with other family events or those by close friends. There is nothing worse then trampling over another couple’s wedding plans by getting engaged after them, and planning your wedding date before theirs, especially if the couple are relatives or close friends.
Also, consider holiday seasons, pregnancies, graduations etc, if you want a day to remember with as many close people around you, then you need to do your homework to ensure they can actually attend the date.

Special dates to remember

If there are any special dates for you as a couple then consider these, perhaps it may be your birthday, valentines or perhaps the anniversary of the day you met.

Don’t forget wedding venues change their prices on the popularity of getting married at a certain time of the year, and even on certain days. A Saturday in July will undoubtedly be peak wedding season, where as a Monday in February may mean a very significant cash saving. This is all very well, but can your nearest and dearest make the Monday wedding date, all these things need to be taken into account when planning your special day.

How about the less traditional weddings, perhaps getting married abroad ?
This idea is becoming more and more popular with brides and grooms, perhaps because of the unpredictable British Summers, and maybe because of cheaper flights and accommodation abroad. If you make the decision to get married overseas, then make a list of everyone who you would really like to be at the wedding, and ask them if they would make the trip before you book anything. It may be your idea of a dream wedding on a beach somewhere, but if your Nan won’t fly then there are tough decisions to make.

Sending “Save the Date” cards or even fridge magnets are a great idea. You can send these little tokens out to your wedding guests months ahead of the wedding date to allow them plenty of time to get themselves organised for your wedding day. Not only will they appreciate it, but you’ll begin to get a good idea of who will make it, and who can’t.

Remember, flexibility is the key to planning your wedding date, make sure you’ve covered all possibilities, spoken to your wedding venue, made sure the date is available and that your key guests are happy with the date too.

Owl to deliver your wedding rings

Most people have seen the Harry Potter movies, where the owl swoops in and delivers the mail to Harry. Well it seems that this unique delivery method has now become a must have accessory for the arrival of your wedding rings at the ceremony.

Don’t worry about the Beckhams thrones, this is the real deal for a magical wedding, and it’s already been tested by Manchester United’s Wes Brown during his wedding to Leanne Wassell.

Ollie, the barn owl has been perfecting his swooping techniques in the Great Hall of Peckforton Castle in Chesire where his owner Mike Roberts has been preparing him for delivering wedding rings to a number of brides and grooms this year.

The Best Man should be nervous, as it’ll be his arm that the bird of prey lands on to pass the wedding rings. And although entrusting an owl with your brand new rings may sound a little risky – can it be any worse then leaving them in the pocket of the bloke who may still be suffering the effects of a long stag party?

Falconer, Mike Roberts, insists that Ollie won’t be flying of into the sunset with your rings in his clutches, and they will be no need for wedding guests to wear hard hats in case of unplanned scalping.
Roberts has taught Ollie the owl to land on a falconry glove worn by the Best man at arms length, whilst responding to special whistles, and relying on a tasty snack for his efforts.

“Birds of prey don’t come back for any affection. It’s food they want,” said Mike. “She knows that when I whistle, if she comes to the glove she’ll get a reward.”

Whilst your wedding guests may enjoy tucking into their prawn cocktails and roast chicken, Ollie the owl will be treated to a tasty rabbit, rat or mouse.
However, the bridal party and their guests needn’t worry about watching this majestic bird swallowing down a nice dead rat in the middle of their wedding ceremony, Mike confirmed that everything is hidden away in his hand, so no one will notice his treat.

Falconers historically have used these birds of prey at their weddings, however it is suggested that due to the popularity of Harry Potter’s Hedwig the snowy owl, they have made their way into mainstream weddings, of course including celebrity weddings.

I’m sure it would make fascinating wedding photographs, with the bride, groom and owl posing happily at the ceremony, but surely the look on the Best Man’s face as the owl swooped down on him would be by far the best photo from the day !

Excellent wedding photographs

Welcome to March 2009, Spring is in the air, wedding planning season is in full swing and we’d thought we’d kick off this month’s blogging with a couple of excellent wedding photographs.

Now everyone loves to have great photographs from their wedding to treasure for the rest of your happy married lifetime. But have you ever thought of getting the wedding photographer to snap away at a few dysfunctional poses, something a little quirky or different, something that you can look back on and laugh at, a memory takes a moment but lasts forever.

These two photos we’ve found here, must of come from weddings that wanted exactly that, the photographer has captured a moment that they may not of wanted capturing at the time, but heh, this is meant to be the happiest day of your life, so at least look back on it and have a good laugh at what went on !

Preparing for your wedding

Preparing for your wedding

Did the bride really want her armpits to be shaved with the photos in the wedding album ? Maybe, maybe not. It’s an excellent wedding photo, and I bet she looks back on this and laughs, however, why is she moving her lips as if her moustache is next to be checked for unsightly hair ?

Can I help you with that piece of cake ?

Can I help you with that piece of cake ?

So the bride had unfortunately dropped something down her wedding dress, let’s hope it’s not the knife used to cut that wonderful looking wedding cake ! What does the groom do to assist his new wife….? Lick her elbow. Most useful thing to do while the wedding photographer is snapping away. But lets face it, another excellent wedding photograph capturing a wonderful moment of a beautiful day.

Make sure you ask your wedding photographer to capture images that are not just family members lined up in a row, but get some quality photos of what really happened during your wedding day.

Happy wedding planning !
