Wedding dresses and tattoos

We were talking to a bride recently who was disappointed with her wedding photographs, not because of anything the wedding photographer had done wrong, but because her tattoo was visible in some of the shots.
There seemed to be something of a boom in “body-art” for females since the early nineties, with girl-power and all that stuff! And as fashionable as the tattoos seemed at the time, it’s left many women with permanent markings that don’t quite coordinate with their perfect wedding dress.
There are a few options available for brides who want to hide their tattoo on their wedding day :
MAKE UP
Dependent on the tattoo’s size and location, applying make-up to cover it up is an option, however if the make-up is heavy enough to hide it, then the make-up will be noticeable to wedding guests close by.
If your main concern is just to hide the tattoo from the wedding photos, or not to be noticed by wedding guests who don’t get that close, then there are some make-up lines that claim to be able to cover a tattoo adequately enough.
Any make-up that is heavy enough to truly cover a tattoo will look like make-up to people who are near you. However, if your major concern is that the tattoo be invisible to people sitting at a distance from you during the ceremony-and invisible in the photos-there are make-up lines that claim to be able to cover a tattoo adequately.
Some make-up brands that claim this are:
* Makeup Artists’ Choice
* Kryolan
* Ben Nye
* Mehron
These make-up brands are made for theatrical performances and are designed to look good from a distance. The products are much heavier then your normal type make-up brands.
If you don’t fancy the idea of trying to purchase these products from the internet, why not just try a visit to Boots or Superdrug and buy the heaviest concealer and foundation available. If that works, then you’ve found the simplest and easiest option available.
CHANGE YOUR WEDDING DRESS STYLE
If the tattoo is playing on your mind that much, then you need to shop for a wedding dress style that will conceal it as much as possible.
If the tattoo is on your shoulder, perhaps opt for wider straps on your wedding dress. If it’s on your arm, then a long straight netted sleeve would cover it, or capped sleeves (but not puffed up ones please!).
Your dream wedding dress may not of originally been chosen with a tattoo in mind, but there is nothing wrong with changing your mind, take a couple of girls along with you, and buy a dress that you are comfortable with.
WEAR A VEIL
Some brides are opting not to wear a veil these days, deciding they are a little old fashioned. However, there are some current fashionable veils that are shorter and skim the shoulders, with a very plain headpiece.
Perfect for hiding a tattoo on the neck back or shoulders, especially if your dress choice has left your back a little bare. Even wearing a shawl around your shoulders may work well for you.
Either way, we hope we’ve given you a few ideas, let us know what you plan to do.
Happy Wedding Planning !
