Wedding Flowers – help in choosing
Before choosing your wedding florist, consider making a list of each type of flower you like. Decide on the colour scheme, assuming you want them to match your wedding colours, and also think of every floral requirement you have.
Consider how you could work with your favourite flowers into your bouquets, centerpieces, corsages and button-holes. Also think about, flowers at the altar or desk for a civil ceremony, perhaps even flowers on an arch as an entrance theme.
Hire a professional wedding florist
Even the most creative of brides should really hire a professional wedding florist.
The reason why we say this is that you don’t really want to get stuck worrying about about arranging the centerpieces when you should be enjoying getting ready for your wedding day. A good wedding florist will create an amazing look for your wedding day, often at a fraction of the cost of the majority of other things you’ll pay for on your wedding day. This leaves you free to celebrate the day and spend the morning relaxing without adding final touches to flower displays.
Flowers are the language of love
This is your wedding day, and therefore it is the most romantic day of your life. Girls, we know the groom won’t be too excited about the flowers, so it’s down to you to “speak the language of love” through your wedding flowers.
Even the hardiest groom will be aware that the red rose symbolizes love, desire and passion, but their are plenty of other flowers to consider also.
Are you aware that the Calla Lily is said to represent magnificent beauty ? Pansies represent the unspoken thoughts that lovers share and apparently it’s Orchids that represent ecstasy !
(The Essex Wedding Team didn’t know this either, we’ve just spoken to a lot of wedding florists in Essex !)
Let the florist assist you in choosing the most special and spectacular flowers to convey your feelings on your wedding day.
A little history of wedding flowers
We spent a little time reading up on wedding history recently, researching information for other wedding related articles that we plan to write about in our blog. So, here’s a few stats about wedding flowers that you may not know;
* Greek brides traditionally carried ivy, this was a symbol of never-ending love.
* Queen Victoria carried orange blossoms on her wedding day to symbolise happiness and fulfillment.
* Ian’s Nan (one of the blokes from our website) carried honeysuckle up the aisle, his Mum seems to think that was to symbolise a bond of love. (We think he may of made that up, just to get a mention)
Either way, looking back at history, especially family history is a nice way to help you decide on flowers with a piece of meaning behind them for your wedding day.
Happy Wedding Planning !
