Cheap and affordable Honeymoon ideas
You’ve spent months, maybe even years planning your wedding, possibly saved more money then ever before to pay for your perfect wedding day.
A lot of couples spend so much time thinking about and planning for the wedding, that when the time comes near, they’ve forgotten they have the dream holiday straight after the wedding to look forward to also.
Travel agents and holiday companies make engaged couples feel like they have to spend a fortune to go on their dream honeymoon, but honeymoons can be romantic and memorable without the need to re-mortgage your property !
You’ll never be able to relax on your honeymoon if you are stressing about the cost of the holiday. In simple terms, the honeymoon has to meet 2 requirements for the newly weds – 1) To spend some quality time together as the new Mr & Mrs, 2) To get some well earned relaxation time after all that wedding planning.
So, if you’re not thinking of 2 weeks in 5 star accommodation in the Seychelles or your wedding buget doesn’t stretch to time travelling around Australia, do not worry – we have a few ideas of cheap and affordable, enjoyable yet inexpensive honeymoon ideas.
Roadtrip
Ok the roadtrip idea may not be the most relaxing for the driver, but think about it like this, bags packed, full tank of petrol, open road and a map. Exciting, no idea where you’ll end up, stopping at hotels or b&b’s on a whim, visiting towns and cities that you’ve never been to before. The idea is that as a newly married couple, you start your new life immediately sharing new experiences together. If you want to splurge a little more, why not hire a nice convertible !
Camping
Admittedly not everyone’s idea of fun. But don’t knock what you haven’t tried, camping can be the most relaxing trip, the great outdoors, the fresh air, the naughtiness (maybe) of it all. Camping is what you make it, a few days snuggled up in a remote area, around the camp fire can be the most romantic days of your life.
Go off season
Europe has some of the most beautiful destinations for honeymooners, unfortunately European cities are amongst the most expensive. The secret to a great European honeymoon is to head off-season, this obviously depends entirely on when your wedding day is, however if you play it smart it’s easy to work out what destinations are considered off season. Winter in the UK is Summer in the southern hemisphere, so they’ll be plenty of off season destinations around Spain Italy and France, all with nicer weather then the UK. For summer weddings, this is your chance to head to the cooler winter destinations of South Africa or Australia for their off-peak.
Big City
No matter where you live, they’ll be a city somewhere not so far from you. Possibly you visit that city once or twice a year, but never spent any more time there. But if, as a couple you’re into your museums, and architecture rather then beaches, then a short break in a big city could be perfect for you. Without the expense travelling long distances you’re free to spend your honeymoon money on nice restaurant meals, and some great pubs.
Go All Inclusive
All inclusive honeymoons are perfect for wedding budgets, you literally won’t need to leave your destination at all. Most people who go on all inclusive honeymoons, take just enough cash to buy a few memorable items from their trip. With food and drink costs all accounted for, and some holidays having day time activities included also, then you can plan your wedding budget perfectly and enjoy yourself without worrying about the cost.
Theme Parks
Maybe a couple of weeks in Florida visiting Disneyland and Universal Studios is outside of your wedding budget. But worry not, there are plenty of Theme Parks in the UK with onsite and local hotels. So if you’re both kids at heart, why not plan a few days visiting those theme parks you’ve always wanted to visit and enjoy some fun quality time together as the new Mr & Mrs.
No matter what you decide to do with your honeymoon, as we said earlier, ensure you spend quality time together and relax in whatever what suits you (and the wedding budget) best. It really will be the best holiday of your life, no matter where you end up, as long as you are together…………..
Happy Wedding Planning.
